Wishing 101

Through the years, one has seen, heard and first-handed witnessed wishes gone bad. Someone had wished for that great paying job that pays lots of money, only to end up working 70+ hours a week on salary with no vacation time; someone had wished for beating that video game villain to find that certain virtual items only to lose their spouse.

Over the last several years I started pointing out to others when they made a wish- “I wish for a new computer”, “I wish I could snipe [username of an online character] and kill [them]”, “I wish I had a cigarette”, “I wish I didn't have to work anymore for a living”. I would attempt to make these people realize that if you were actually “granted” one wish, that one trivial and idiotic wish (see the previous sentence for examples), would they really want to waste it on that.

Careful what you wish for, as it may just come true and have other ramifications or consequences you did not foresee. Also what you wish for my not come true the exact way you expected. So never wish in haste.
